It is a simple and stylish plugin for wordpress post navigation. WordPress provides a ready made function to show next and previous post links. But this is less effective if you wish to take your visitors to other pages in your blog. Adding to style, jj-WP Easy Navigation Plugin allows visitors to navigate through your posts using keyboard right and left arrow keys.
I have used the same plugin on this blog. You can try it out. For a detailed explanation on how it works, I have uploaded a video in youtube. You can view the same below.
This section describes how to install the plugin and get it working.
1. Upload the entire jj-WP-easy-navigation.zip directory to the /wp-content/plugins/ directory
2. Activate the plugin through the ‘Plugins’ menu in WordPress

Hi Joby, Great Plugin but on my site the thumbnail pictures don’t show in your preview boxes. Can you help.
Thanks
Jim
The image should be featured image of your post. Then only it will be displayed in tooltip.
Hi,
Great plugin, definetly a 5 stars!
I got 2 question about it :
1. Is there a way to invert the next and previous function? When users are on the last post on the website, I want them to click on the right or push right to go on the second last post etc….(If not clear just tell me haha) it seems more natural to click on right or push right than going left.
Secondly, the second comment is saying something about the preview box that we can see a preview of the next post…since our website is just a picture posting..How can we do that? I’m not sure where to put the code to show a preview picture!
and again GREAT PLUGIN!!!
I need to think about first part ie inverting the functionality. But for second part, you need to make the posted picture also as a featured image. Then the plugin will start showing images also.
Thanks you for the answer for the featured image, it works! Now waiting on the inverting funcionality
. And as for the arrow, is there a way to modify the ”picture of it?”so we can customise our own arrow! so it will fit any wordpress blog to match their color!
great plugin will definiteley recommand to anyone!
You can change the next and previous images by replacing ‘next_48.png’ and ‘prev_48.png’ images inside plugin folder. Currently the images are 48x48px dimension and the background of images are transparent. Hope this will help you.
Love your plug ins, your a life saver sometimes! I really want to use this plugin but the arrows are fixed to the same articles at all times. I would ideally like it to navigate through the articles that are on my home page but I can’t seem to find a way to make this happen. Any ideas?
Hi Joby. I am just now installing your plug in. It would be a good thing if you could add this functionality:
If your post does not have a feautured image – as will often be the case – the popups in your plugin should show only the title of the post, not another extra space with nothing in it… right now i see the (albeit) empty space for the feautured image even if i have none in the post.
That would clean it up when it can be cleaned.
Another suggestion: Make it so that the position of the popup is tied to the arrow image. Right now, i have to change the position of the arrow to my liking and after that also the pop up position.
As a matter of fact, just how do I change the position of the popup?
This is a really nice way of navigating for my blog.
I changed the colors of the buttons and it fits real nice. However, I can’t seem to display the button on my homepage.
My homepage displays the last post I added.
How can I resolve this problem?
If you take the plugin file, you can find an if condition. That condition checks if page is single post page and then displays the navigation button. You can add is_home to the condition for your functionality.
Ooh yes! It does work like that! Thanxxx a lot!
I had to figure out what to do exactly (cause I only know a little PHP).
In jj-wp-easy-navigation/jj-wp-post-navigation.php I replaced every
if (is_single ()) {
by a
if (is_single () || is_home ()) {
And it is working like charm!
Thanks so much for the awesome plug. I made some mods to it per your suggestions here and it fits my theme precisely.
I just found and installed your plugin. I was able to change the buttons to a style more suited to my website, but the next button is further from the edge of the screen than the previous button. This puts it right in edge of my navigation bar. Is there a way to adjust the position of this button?
Just play with the plugin css position parameter.
I had to use a -45 setting to position it in the proper place. It looks good though.
Do you know of a way to modify the plugin to only go to the next post within the same category? I’ve tried changing line 32 of jj-wp-post-navigation.php to “$nextPost = get_next_post($in_same_cat = true);” but that just causes the forward arrow to disappear. I’ve also tried using the Smarter Navigation plugin but that operate on “next_post_link” rather than “get_next_post” so I’m not sure if it’s feasible to integrate the two. Any ideas?
Hi
Nice plugin but … is there any way to deactivate the “key navigation” while posting a comment ?
It is awfully annoying to have page switch when you are just navigating in your comment for correcting a mistake …
In fact I would like to deactivate the key navigation at any time, because while browsing a Lightbox gallery this is a nightmare :-S
Hello,
I installed the plugin, but nothing appears … I have WordPress 3.3.2.
I need your help… thanks
hi! joby
the plugin is awesome and working great. However, the left button is not displaying at my blog. the button is working great. Do you have any solution?
Thanks
ashwin
actually I installed the plugins. It is working well, but suddenly it stop showing again until now. I already uninstalled and installed again, do it again and again, still not change. Do you know why likes that?
solved. Now I am trying to allocate those button and preview post box
This plugin rules! Thanks man
Is there way to have this navigation on page with a portfolio grid?
Like it’s on this site: http://curtziegler.com/sitedemo/mono/?page_id=62&paged=2
That would be very useful, to be able to navigate thru these grid’s (list of portfolio attachment’s)!
Also! I’ve noticed while writing this comment, if I hit the arrow keys, it would open up the next/prev post of your blog! So that I guess is a bug!
Thousand million thank you’s for your reply.
God Bless You
Do you know of a way to modify the plugin to only go to the next post within the same category?
Hi Joby, Great Plugin. I have noticed that the plugin show an empty space if the post has no featured image, it would be really nice if you allow some customization settings like changing the position of the popup without playing with the code.
Hi! From all your plugin I just want the two customizable buttons for next and prev. No thumbnail, no title.
